Overview

Renowned Colombian Australian artist Maria Fernanda Cardoso has captivated the public with her site-responsive artwork for the Wollongong Central shopping center. Thousands of nylon rods in seven different lengths and shades of grey were produced by UAP STUDIO and installed in the center. Cardoso’s immersive work references Wollongong’s coastal location with each rod creating a water-like surface.

Incorporating thousands of nylon rods which spout from the internal wall, Velvet Water presents an immersive experience of the fluidity and force of water in a sculptural landscape.
