Overview

OMNIPLAN’s design creates a placemaking amenity that serves the adjacent office park as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. The development flanks the pond with a layering of restaurant patios, a pedestrian path, and lounge seating. The water feature converted an existing pond into a dynamic water feature with digital controls, acting as a focal point for the restaurants and a setting for live music and other programmed events. The warm material palate of the Boardwalk in addition to its fresh and modern design has attracted local food restaurateurs who demand unique aesthetics.

Goals

Needing to compete for office tenants in the increasing competitive City of Plano, Granite turned to OMNIPLAN to create a unique and artistic destination for the 90-acre Granite Park as well as the adjacent Hilton Hotel. The Boardwalk created a public space centered on an outdoor water feature that quickly became a local destination. Several elements throughout the project are sculptural including the overhead canopies and the building's armature. The armature acts as a sculptural icon for the project, providing sightlines from the highway as well as the office park. The design details throughout the plaza have a fresh and modern design and a warm material palette.
