Overview
Comprehensive redesign and conversion of the Casinos Austria & Austrian Lotteries
in-house venue STUDIO 44 into a multifunctional 400m2 event space, the STUDIO 44 LOFT.
The new design creates a strong architectural identity, in respect to the complex functional and technical premises, such as, maximum flexibility, multi-mediality, optimum acoustic properties and indoor climate, within given constraints of the existing building.
Goals
The conversion and refurbishment of the STUDIO 44 LOFT space central focus is the synchronicity of customized visual and lighting material surfaces. Creating unique individual ambient atmospheres enhances the multifaceted requirements of daily corporate, cultural and social events.
Responsive LED lighting, flexible rotating video panels, and Soft Cell acoustic LED wall panels vastly improve the technical performance, creating an articulated spatial.
Process
VMA’s concept for the refurbishment was the result of an invited competiton between two pre-selected architectural offices. The decision in favour of VMA was based on the strong visual identity of the design as well as on the use of synergy effecs.
The project is the result of the successful cooperation between the architect and the client. Intensive dialogue and thorough project management accelerated the process, consequently shortening the construction period to less than three months.
Additional Information
In recognition of VMA´s innovative proprietary design solution integrating advanced lighting technologies within an original architectural footprint the project has been nominated for the prestigious German Lighting Design Award 2014.
