Thematically, the design is a metaphor of the ascending and descending movement of God's grace and light in the act of reconciliation. Handmade laminated prisms “float” diagonally within the field of purple mouth blown glass, directing the eye from the south to the west-facing panel. Purple symbolizes Penance. 50 sq. ft.
The glass is carefully cut, then edge-polished and laminated onto a piece of tempered glass with a special optical silicone. Thus, it has a more luminous effect than leaded glass.

Our design process was both collaborative and respectful, between all parties - architect, artist, client, and liturgical consultant. This process gave the artists time to understand the architectural intent and the intended meaning of the liturgical areas. Meanwhile, I presented the options for materials and design approach with input from the architect, client and liturgical consultant. This was the ideal process to create an integrated artwork within the architecture.
The whole design team met numerous times early in the architectural design process to discuss the architectural drawings, the site, the light, and each area where liturgical art would be installed. As the architectural design progressed, and artists designs were presented, a wholistic vision of the church grew.

That the client ”loved the window” was gratifying, and it was especially rewarding, working with other artists to see this new church become a reality.
