Overview
Explorers at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery play in an immersive sound exhibit where they collaboratively create sound compositions by moving through ripples of projected light. Mediums: Projection Mapping, Sound Design, Interactive Technology. Approx 150 square feet.
Goals
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery had a few overarching goals that were essential in the overall design of SOUNDSCAPE. First, to activate a previously dead space in the museum that had become static and stale, and second, as the museum's name implies, it was imperative that the installation evoke a sense of discovery and open play. SOUNDSCAPE archives these goals by creating an immersive, living, and interactive environment that is responsive and inviting.
Process
Members of Alt Ethos met with the stakeholders at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and kicked off the project with a day of collaborative discovery and definition. Through design observations, interviews, and even playing games, Alt Ethos was able to define a project that was collaborative to its core - in its design, fabrication, execution, and theme.
