Overview
Created of one 4×8 sheet of half inch aluminum, patinated and coated for outdoors to resist fading in the Mexican climate. Colors were chosen to be bright and celebratory. The patina was applied to allow the aluminum to shine through.
Goals
The curator had selected a piece of mine she had seen in Sussex Park in Beltsville, MD. It was was unavailable. I created one in the same style. This was on exhibit outdoors at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Merida for 10 months. The exhibit included 47 sculptures from the United States and Mexico. The exhibit was celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Museum.
Process
Drawings were submitted of the new work and created it to those specs. I collaborated with colleagues to obtain materials and complete the final piece which was shipped and installed by the Museum.
Additional Information
It was an honor to be selected to represent the US in this exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Merida
