Overview

Beam & Board was chosen to contribute the unique reclaimed wood products needed to complete the renovation to the interior of the expansive SentryWorld facility, which includes a restaurant (PJ’s – SentryWorld), along with first-rate spaces for weddings, events, meetings, banquets and more. Beam & Board’s offerings turned into doors, ceilings, accent beams, mantels, trim and other interior details critical to the facility’s design and purpose.

Goals

Integrating commissioned artwork through a variety of mediums was a very important part of the overall SentryWorld facility renovation. The building, which originally opened in 1982, was in need of updating both from a functional standpoint, as well as from an aesthetic standpoint. With the redesign, Sentry Insurance, who owns SentryWorld, sought out to create an authentic, genuine Wisconsin experience for its patrons. The facility design played a crucial role in the ability to execute the experience. Beam & Board’s contributions, along with a variety of additional pieces from an assortment of other Midwestern artists, came together to create an authentic, cohesive design and subsequent experience that seamlessly melded with both the facility’s exterior as well as the freshly reimagined 200-acre SentryWorld golf course.

Process

Collaboration was key in every aspect of the SentryWorld renovation. The SentryWorld facility itself is expansive, serves many purposes and offers many different amenities. As such, there were many different individuals involved with the project—everyone from artists and designers to architects and contractors. To add to the challenge, along with the facility renovation, the 200-acre SentryWorld golf course also underwent a renovation, involving golf course architects, project teams and other contractors. All parties involved needed to maintain a close line of open communication and collaboration in order to ensure the overall design of the course and facilities remained cohesive and complementary, all while delivering an authentic, genuine Wisconsin experience.

Additional Information

All of the unique elements provided by Beam & Board truly elevated the SentryWorld facility renovation and helped Sentry Insurance meet their project needs while renewing their commitment to the community of Stevens Point.
