Overview

The MSP Arts and Culture Program, a partnership between the Airport Foundation MSP and the Metropolitan Airports Commission, wanted two-dimensional, human scale commissioned mosaic artworks to be displayed at the entries to restrooms throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) terminal. The walls were approximately: Women's 10’-6” wide x 9’ tall, and Men's 6’-5” wide x 9’ tall

Goals

The overriding goal of the project was to provide an attractive, efficient and long-lasting restroom design that accommodates significant numbers of people by improving upon the physical and psychological qualities of the spaces. The artist’s work helps to make these restrooms both easily identifiable and add to the quality of the guest’s experience.

Process

I met with the committee and presented designs. Once the winning pair of designs was selected, I worked with Mosaika in Montreal who fabricated and installed the mosaics.
