Overview

PULSE welcomes visitors to the TTUHSC facility with a spectacular, living symbol of health, care, and compassion. The installation consists of an 11 foot tall, LED screen displaying a highly accurate simulation of the human circulatory system in the familiar, visual style of an MRI.

Goals

My goals for PULSE were to make an innovative, site-specific work that spoke to the Health Sciences community, was well integrated into the architectural context, and represented the inventive spirit of the University. As with all my public art projects, my hope was that, through design and interactive technology, the work would provoke conversation and encourage community building.

Process

PULSE was designed in collaboration with the Health Sciences community at Texas Tech to ensure the final design was anatomically correct and the appropriate artistic intervention for the space. I always strive to involve the community as much as possible to ensure the final work reflects their culture and their needs.
