A constant water drip can fill up an ocean. For seven year I have being creating artistic plinths for business building. As I contemplate the result, I realized how much we have done for the Art collection and the Architecture to harmoniously blend. Las Brisas is a 5 story office building located in Guatemala City. It houses one of the largest Guatemalan Art collections. I was contracted to produce Artistic Plinth that dignified the work of Art and integrated with the building’s interior architecture.
The commissioned work was to produce plinths that would produce a blend between Art & Architecture, dignify the art work and increase the visitor’s art experience. By combining the three elements we were able to produce a harmonious space. The visitors experience is fantastic even magical. People that visits the building tend to be amuse of the inside atmosphere that creates the relation between the Artwork, the space and them. The design work is intricate. Plinth’s complexity depends on the work of Art’s energy, density and statement. When designing a plinth I tend to have a quite dialog with the work to identify the Artist intend. When the work is multiple and diverse, I tend to push the boundaries to keep a balance between all. The end result I would say is not an integration but a fusion of elements working together in a pleasant way.
The collaboration is mainly between Artisans, drafters, 3d Artist, Client, and curator. We research about the Artist, converse with the Client and the Curator about the main creator ideas and the reason the work was selected to be part of the collection. Once this information is assimilated I began a silent conversation with the sculpture and manufacturing analysis to figure out the proper fixation of the work to the plinth. Once the design is conceptualized, it goes thru a process of drafting and 3d generation of images. We then communicate with the Artisans that better adjust to the project needs. From there is about working hand by hand with the manufacturer to generate a final design that fulfill both manufacturing and design characteristics.

[ manifesto ]
Art matters. Attention to the details of our environment leads to love of place, which brings us to take responsibility for the spaces where we live and work. And by extension, the people with whom we live and work. And by extension, to our local communities, our cities, our nations, and our world.
We champion the role of artists in our society. We need artists to provide us with inspiration, creativity, and imagination, and to help us envision a better world.
Architects and designers know that remarkable design can change everything. They connect the dots across disciplines, collaborating with artists to make the world a more beautiful place. They are the ultimate patrons of the arts.
In the process, design professionals promote imagination and creativity, and through their commissions, make original art integral to and accessible in people's lives.
Art in our public and private spaces helps us fight ordinary buildings, ordinary streets, ordinary cities. We celebrate the extraordinary.
The architecture of our buildings and the design of our interiors affect our happiness and well-being. Each of us deserves a daily dose of inspiration.
