Overview

The vision of this project was to provide unique gallery fittings that would pique customers’ interest without being so unique they overshadowed the merchandise being displayed. Adding uncommon flair to the retail art and jewelry gallery, these display cases feature a layered organic waveform design flowing continuously across their fronts, as well as a curvilinear foot print based on multiple radii.

Goals

The goal of this project was to create a unique opportunity for a newly opened gallery space to set itself apart from the crowd by creating artistic and unique retail display cases that would catch potential customers' eyes from outside the gallery and draw them in. By designing the cabinetry during the build-out phase of the gallery, and unconventional shape of the cases could be used to inform other areas of the gallery, such as the overhead lighting soffit, which matches the casework footprint.

Process

The design process was an iterative collaboration between myself and the clients. After a few in-person meetings at the gallery space as it was being renovated, I provided multiple design ideas, from which the client selected the most appealing attributes. Designs were then refined through discussion and iteration.
