Client: The Chronicle for Higher Education

Overview

Moonshooter is a visual exploration of The Chronicle’s past, present and future. The mixed medial work containts over 200 hand-pulled silkscreened layers.
The foreground layer depicts the move from the publication being print and “assembly-line”based production moving up a conveyor belt through Einsteins first source of light to an explosion of print and digital communication that passes through an image of GOOD. The GOOD light bulb was created to symbolize how everything that The Chronicle teams does is enhancing, educating or exposing information to those who do GOOD for others in the world whether through higher education or philanthropy.

Goals

Art work was commissioned to add a strong representation of the organization's past, present and future in their newly renovated headquarters in DC. The complex layered work used original historical imagery, current imagery from their publication and original illustrations and photography.

Process

I spent over 80 hours at The Chronicle working closely with their executive staff. Meetings were used to map the history and present day of the publications and brands - as well as - understand the goals and strategy for the future.

This project also contained commissioned art work that presented their brands and mission in a contemporary display.
