Overview
Johnathan Borofsky was selected for one of the signature works to be installed near the Mid America Conference Center in an effort of creating a regional art collection for the entertainment district.
Goals
Public Art & Practice was retained to create a Public Art Master Plan for the City in 2004. The efforts vision statement is “In 2015 Council Bluffs will be a prosperous urban area known for its cultural enlightenment, and a public art collection which is the pride of the community and draws tourists from across the country and around the world.
The public art program will be an essential part of the community and a routine element for urban development and planning.
In other words, Council Bluffs in 2015 will be a respected community which nurtures an environment in which creativity is ubiquitous in daily life.”
Process
Johnathan met with the Iowa West Public Art committee, the landscape architect, a representative from the Mid America Conference Center, the City of Council Bluffs and Public Art & Practice LLC (Art Consultant) during the selection process, the design/engineering stages and was on the site during the installation process. His ability to inform the group from the conceptual stage to the completion of the installation which resulted in a seamless process will no glitches and a world class work of art being added to the collection.
