Overview

The client asked for a real waterfall… We proposed a kinetic and dynamic digital one. So it began. The piece contains 15 glass block covered LED light channels reaching 35 feet into the room. Motion detectors and localized speakers were integrated at the base to allow for light and sound tracking to a visitor. You can change the color and motion speed of the light from your phone.

Goals

The institutions mission for the Gateway building involved setting the stage for a dynamic future for this 85-year old community college. The addition of glass, light, motion, and sound as art forms delivers the mission brilliantly.

Process

Dynamic Environment Design firm ZEBRADOG collaborated with Milwaukee architect PRA and Madison Wisconsin General Contractor Findorff to deliver this graceful and awe inspiring piece.

Additional Information

The piece draws thousands of people each year to participate in the motion activated light and sound show. The more people moving in front of it the better. There are 25 lighting and music scenarios to play with. The lucky person who has access to the simple CMS can change the light sequences from their mobile phone!
