Overview
I was commissioned to contribute my photography for the new state-of-the-art Kaiser Permanente Medical Office, Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw in Los Angeles, California. I created various photographic images on both canvas and paper in multiple sizes from 20” X 16” to 60” X 40”, which are hung in multiple departments and public spaces throughout the facility.
Goals
The project’s goal was to commission local artisans to capture and create images that would reflect the community’s natural beauty and rich history as well as enhance this new facility’s public spaces. It was paramount in the planning of this facility to include familiar and inspirational artworks to set the tone for a calm and healing environment envisioned by the Kaiser Permanente project designers.
Process
Working with JD Thompson and Associates was an excellent and enjoyable experience. Jane Thompson and her capable team, as the liaison between the Kaiser selection team and the artists, made the process seamless and communicated the clients wishes thoroughly.
My images were printed by Von Thomas, of Thomas Editions, a Los Angeles based fine art printer. His eye for detail and expertise of my limited edition prints were beautifully reproduced to my standards in the enlarged format with archival pigments on the selected papers and canvas. He then shipped the art to JD Thompson and Associates where they were framed and made ready for installation in the Kaiser Permanente Medical Facility.
Additional Information
I was also commissioned to shoot additional images for the project to fill a void of specific subject matter which I turned around in a few days. These images are seen prominently in a main thoroughfare in the medical offices. Overall, This was a wonderful opportunity and I had a great time sharing my works to enhance the overall look and feel of this new facility... I Love what I do!
