Client: Grand Lux Cafe

Overview

Work with the Design and Development department of The Cheesecake Factory to design, produce, and install a variety of wall art for their Grand Lux Cafe restaurants.

Goals

Create an environment that is in-line with the core company's image which would be striking, recognizable, and ultimately, repeatable.

Process

From my studio in Chicago, I worked with senior members of The Cheesecake Factory design team in California to develop wall coverings both digitally printed and screen printed, as well as interior and exterior paint treatments. For production, about a dozen artists were brought in, half working in our studio to finish wall pieces, the other half working on site to complete gilding, faux finishing, and installation of other wall elements.

Additional Information

These projects were both demanding and rewarding. The client requires a level of quality that is quite high considering the physical aspects, time/ budget constraints, and just the number of trades and workers involved to get the restaurant open.
