Overview

“El Paso Passage” is a light sculpture located on Airways Blvd at the entrance of the El Paso International Airport. This light sculpture is a computerized LED light system. The underpass beams were painted to enhance the reflective quality of the projected LED light. The dimensions vary- basically 50′ W x 80′ L x 14′ H.

Goals

One of the goals was to create a memorable visual experience for travelers arriving or departing via the El Paso Airport. The city of El Paso is a strong advocate of public art and it was important to the airport to make a unique visual experience to the arrival or departure from the airport.

Process

I was invited to be on the team preparing the lighting masterplan for the airport. The scope of work included inside the main entrance to the terminals, landscape lighting, signage as well as public art.

Additional Information

I have completed over 25 public art projects in five countries and being commissioned by MCAD, City of El Paso was one of the most professional and supportive experiences that I have had in public art.
