Overview
The artwork is in Screen Printed ceramic enamels and is 9 metres high X 10 metres wide and is an abstracted design of a variety of sportspeople.
Goals
A new residential development for over 1,000 new homes includes a new Sports Pavilion and Park. The Sports Pavilion includes changing facilities for Cricket, Football and Rugby.
Process
A series of sketches were made of a variety of sports that take place at Great Western Park. These images are transformed into simple shapes and forms.
The designs were then further developed to create a composition of semi-abstracted
images that represent the function and purpose of the building through energy
and movement.
Additional Information
Further design development includes a “skyline” of the cooling towers that once stood beside the Great Western Railway at Didcot Oxfordshire, and the Rugby World Cup Anthem in the bottom section of the windows.
