ConnCAT occupies 15,000 sf of space and trains 100 local unemployed and underemployed adults a year for phlebotomy, medical coding and billing jobs. The School also holds a digital arts and reading program for kids. Svigals Partners, an architecture art firm, engaged the entire firm to paint a mural on the wall at the entrance to ConnCAT. On opening day, the client and employees of ConnCAT completed finishing touches of red paint to their mural.
ConnCAT is non-profit organization whose collaborative nature has established a successful program for unemployed adults and troubled youth in the area. In support of a company that gives 100% back to their community, the staff at Svigals Partners wanted to give them a piece of art that represented their lively, collaborative spirit. As we came together as a firm to complete this mural, the employees and leaders of ConnCAT came together to finish this piece of art that serves as a welcome greeting to each person who walks through their doors.
The original piece of art was completed by Barry Svigals and was scaled to fit the wall in ConnCAT. 10-15 employees of Svigals Partners worked on separate pieces of the mural, volunteering their time throughout the work day. Each piece came together to create a cohesive mural painting. On opening day for the facility, Svigals staff was there with red paint so that several donors and leaders of ConnCAT could add their mark to the mural.

[ manifesto ]
Art matters. Attention to the details of our environment leads to love of place, which brings us to take responsibility for the spaces where we live and work. And by extension, the people with whom we live and work. And by extension, to our local communities, our cities, our nations, and our world.
We champion the role of artists in our society. We need artists to provide us with inspiration, creativity, and imagination, and to help us envision a better world.
Architects and designers know that remarkable design can change everything. They connect the dots across disciplines, collaborating with artists to make the world a more beautiful place. They are the ultimate patrons of the arts.
In the process, design professionals promote imagination and creativity, and through their commissions, make original art integral to and accessible in people's lives.
Art in our public and private spaces helps us fight ordinary buildings, ordinary streets, ordinary cities. We celebrate the extraordinary.
The architecture of our buildings and the design of our interiors affect our happiness and well-being. Each of us deserves a daily dose of inspiration.
