Overview

Fire Rainbows are a series of fused glass and brushed metal panels commissioned for indoors and outdoor applications. Dimension in series vary depending on the particular piece. Commissioned by Art Design Consultants in Cincinnati for their gallery stock, several fused glass and metal panels have already sold and others are available for purchase to clients desiring colorful water and sunlight forms for a wide variety of applications. Two are held in private residential collections and a third will make its way to the University of Kentucky Credit Union lobby early 2019.

Goals

The goal was to create a series of fused glass and metal art panels suitable for integration into public and private indoor and outdoor spaces. The theme for the Current and Rainbow series is art that integrates the bright colors of the setting sun over the Ohio River, with cross-current patterns in the glass of flowing water. The Ohio River borders two cities, downtown Cincinnati, OH and Covington, Kentucky. Both cities have beautifully restored waterfront terraces with restaurants, performance spaces and shops overlooking the Ohio River. Connecting the two cities is the Purple People Bridge, where visitors can stroll over the river. Ohio and Kentucky residents revere the Ohio River and their riverfront districts and both municipalities have invested resources in the resurgence and refurbishment. Art, gardens, fountains, fireplaces and public gathering spaces abound throughout~including the Great American Ball Park where the Cincinnati Reds play. Art livens these community spaces for the public to enjoy.

Process

My company has worked with ADC for 5 years and our positive collaboration has resulted in three sales of art from the Current and Rainbow series. Art from this series also helped me earn the the prestigious 2017 Glass Artist of the Year award from ADC through their Art Comes Alive Exhibition, a juried show of contemporary art in America. My 25 years experience working with municipalities, designers and galleries helped bring this project to life. Collaborating with the team at ADC on Currents and Rainbows has been enjoyable. I love helping designers and their clients select the perfect art from this series, for their business and residential projects. Orders are accepted for custom color and sizes in this series and others similar to this project.

Additional Information

Series Selection: INDOOR APPLICATIONS: Chasing the Spectrum and Currents. OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS: Parallel Rays and Rainbow Fire. Partnering with Spartan Laser and Wisco Metal Industries on this project and similar series, I am able to accept orders for personalized metal panels and sub-straights as backing to fused glass, which meet a wide variety of applications for indoor and outdoor placement.
