Overview

Featured are sample images of established contemporary artist Chitra Ramanathan's large-scale paintings. Ideal for all luxury interiors. Commissions accepted working as individual or collaboration(s) within the realm of public art, or individual commissioned work for business/educational/corporate organizations within the United States. Site-specific public art projects completed in recent years include a site-specific permanent wall mural for children measuring 13.8 feet wide created a primary school in Indianapolis, Indiana USA and a site-specific installation commissioned by MGM Resorts International/Mirage to create a pair of Chitra Ramanathan's signed paintings permanently displayed inside the Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas.

Goals

Commissioned by the Washington Township School District in Indianapolis, Indiana USA in 2008 for Crooked Creek Elementary School in Indianapolis, the theme was to create a wall mural for children to feature permanently in the front lobby. The public art commission for MGM Resorts International/MGM Mirage in 2004, the installation was to be permanently located inside the Bellagio Conservatory in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, where world wide foot traffic is prevalent year round. The background wall was painted to complement my two paintings each measuring 4 feet across and 6 feet high.

Process

The project for MGM Resorts for example, involved creating sample images from color swatches received from the organization during a six month period during when the interior was being refurbished. Begun in late 2003, the final pieces were displayed in October 2004 and is permanently featured therein.
