Overview
5' x 10' bamboo and paper construction for the lobby of this new modern building.
Goals
My intention was to create a strong welcoming piece that would honor the handmade and ancient craftsmanship of binding bamboo and papermaking.
Process
We had a very strong trust and respect for each others' contribution.. There was a brief project/proposal phase, but it was clear we shared a common vision.
Additional Information
My work is purposely primitive and crude. I want the process to show.. the threads that bind.. the bamboo from the earth, the scratches, the wrinkles.. it is all important in the voice of the piece that makes it alive to me.
