Overview
Mosaic mural decorating the wall of Terminal One at the San Diego International Airport. 6.5' x 40' smalti glass and tumbled marble.
Goals
The space is a waiting area for passengers departing and arriving at the San Diego airport. The primary objective was to create a calming image that highlights San Diego's greatest asset - it's beautiful beaches.
Process
The San Diego Port Authority commissioned the artist to create an image, filling an entire wall with imagery that features San Diego's beaches. The artist worked closely with the architect, construction crew and airport officials, overseeing the design, construction and installation of the mosaic mural.
Additional Information
Design and supervision of the project by Tracy Sabin. Construction of the mosaic by Mosaiclegs and installation by Klaser Tile Company.
