I am an Interdisciplinary Artist and Designer with a stellar track record spanning over 32 years. My work thrives at the intersections of Art with Urban Design, Environment and Infrastructure, often bridging the gaps between disciplines to create a more meaningful and engaging public realm. My projects are best known for symbolic pattern work, the play of sunlight and shadow over sculptural form, and my ability to conceptually engage the entire site as a canvas. My practice often includes design team collaborations, mentoring interns, public outreach, public art master planning, and promoting economic development through the Arts.
We have been working with Vicki for well over a decade bringing her Art & Aesthetic talent and expertise into our major public works projects. They consist major bridges, freeways and interchanges. Vicki has a unique talent of integrating art and aesthetics in structures by thoroughly understanding the context of the project, its function and above all the history and culture of the community, past, present and the future. Also she does this integration in a wholistic and sustainbale fashion. She is also very original and creative in her work.
West El Paso Area Engineer
I have worked with Vicki Scurri over the past year on two large construction projects for the El Paso area. On both of these projects Ms. Scurri provided exceptional support and artistic expertise incorporating a unique regional design to our Mountain backdrop. This process involved conceptual renderings to form-liner fabrication. Ms. Scurri is highly professional and skilled exhibited by the final product produced that will be enjoyed by the traveling public for many years to come.
Art matters. Attention to the details of our environment leads to love of place, which brings us to take responsibility for the spaces where we live and work. And by extension, the people with whom we live and work. And by extension, to our local communities, our cities, our nations, and our world.
We champion the role of artists in our society. We need artists to provide us with inspiration, creativity, and imagination, and to help us envision a better world.
Architects and designers know that remarkable design can change everything. They connect the dots across disciplines, collaborating with artists to make the world a more beautiful place. They are the ultimate patrons of the arts.
In the process, design professionals promote imagination and creativity, and through their commissions, make original art integral to and accessible in people's lives.
Art in our public and private spaces helps us fight ordinary buildings, ordinary streets, ordinary cities. We celebrate the extraordinary.
The architecture of our buildings and the design of our interiors affect our happiness and well-being. Each of us deserves a daily dose of inspiration.
