A graduate of the University of Iowa, Twyla Gettert has been a full-time artist for over twenty-five years. Twyla’s paintings and photography are collected by both private and corporate art enthusiasts and have been purchased by over 55 corporations. Her art was selected for two international Sumi-E shows at the National Museum of Fine Art; Osaka, Japan. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her paintings including a grant from the Enico Donati (E.D.) Foundation, NYC, NY. Twyla’s work has been shown in museum exhibitions and in a network of galleries throughout the U.S. She creates in a number of mediums including Painting, Printmaking, Photography, manipulated Digital Radiography, Chinese Brush Painting, and Japanese Sumi-E. Her experience includes completing art-site specific projects with designers and architects and has completed large-scale commissioned works on numerous healthcare and hospitality projects. As an Art/Science Collaboration, she has also utilized Digital Radiography (X-ray) to create a series of artworks. By sharing her personal vision and emotion in painting, she hopes to draw viewers closer to their own inner worlds. “My goal for creating art and also for my work in the Public Art, Corporate, Healthcare and Hospitality settings is to lift up and bring an artful, meaningful experience into daily life. I am influenced by light and nature around me and bring that into the creative process.”
