Dayton Castleman is an artist and Director of Visual Thinking with Verdant Studio. Verdant Studio is a woman-owned Arkansas-based architecture and design firm composed of artists, architects, and designers. The public artworks in our portfolio are distinguished by a process of creative research rooted in the careful observation of each site we engage. Our focus is on the specifics of space and place, how humans interact with specific sites, and how adding to the site is understood in terms of enhancing the experience and understanding of that place, and the activity within/around it. The visual and material diversity of the work in our portfolio is a function of determining what works within specific social and architectural spaces, with form and materials being shaped by purpose and function. We understand that commissioning bodies are often looking for a predictable visual brand. Our brand is the process we have consistently deployed to arrive at meaningful public art ideas, and the expertise to design, engineer, and complete projects of any budget.
