Overview
Multi-piece, pin-mounted, angular sculpture with lighting installed behind a hotel Reception Desk to flow across a thirty foot expanse.
Goals
Our goals were to realize the designer's concept while working within the budget provided. The finished piece consists of nearly 100 components, a quarter of them outfitted with lighting. We coordinated with the interior design firm, the lighting designer, a graphic artist, the woodworker and the installation crew to realize the final installed piece.
Process
The designer began the collaboration with Art Initiative with the concept of a multi-piece, lighted, angular white sculpture that would energize the wall behind the reception desk of a renovation project they were working on. In order to keep the sculpture in budget, Art Initiative was able to standardize the components of the nearly 100 piece sculpture to five angled shapes which we rotated within the composition to create a wholly unique, cohesive sculpture.
