Welcome to the January issue of CODAmagazine, where we share the best design + art projects from all over the world. We’re an online community for artists, design professionals, and industry resources to showcase their work, collaborate with one another, and find the creative resources they need for future projects.

We kick off 2023 with a focus on the magic of color. Colors draw our attention to important details, reinvigorate spaces, and can even have a bearing on our moods. They are properties which can make or break the effectiveness of a project, and wise creatives know they should be carefully considered. Lauded designers have been known to study color theory in order to learn how to better elicit precise reactions or establish atmosphere. A project in this issue, for a Facebook office in Amsterdam, is a good example of this concept expressed in a workplace.

The ease with which creatives can add or subtract color to a project is one of the most powerful tools they have. Some of the projects selected for this issue receive their color from light sources or from vibrant coats of paint. Other works are purposefully fabricated with the minimal use of color, for maximum effect: One of my favorites this month, Colorado highway seating, adds charm to landscape settings with monochromatic benches.
