Welcome to the first-ever issue of CODAmagazine! We are incredibly excited to be utilizing Flipboard to share the best in design + art projects from all over the world.

CODAmagazine is published ten times a year by CODAworx.com—we’re an online community for artists and design professionals to showcase their work, collaborate with one another, and earn recognition for their projects.

So why does the world need another design magazine? Because, unlike other publications, we focus on those design projects that incorporate commissioned artwork. It’s astounding what happens when the talents of design professionals and artists come together, and we want to share those collaborations with the world. We promise you will be amazed and inspired!

And it’s no accident that our inaugural issue of CODAmagazine should focus on light. More and more artists and design professionals on CODAworx are choosing to incorporate light in their artwork and environments. And there’s no better place to witness the transformative power of light than in the hands of artists and designers. What does it accomplish for these spaces? Emotion. Excitement. Engagement. Wonder.

To showcase such an example of the power of light on the grandest scale, we are pleased to bring you an interview with Gilles Flouret, program manager for the Festival of Lights, held in Lyon, France, each December. It’s a spectacular display of the latest innovation in light technology and artistry—just one example of the amazing things artists and designers can accomplish with light.
