  • Brief Description

The Fredericksburg (VA) Sculpture Project has selected three locations for display of large-scale, free-standing outdoor sculpture from October 2024 to September 2025.

    Entry Requirements

The invitation is open to artists working independently or in a collaborative group. A maximum of three works can be entered per artist or group. There is no entry fee. Ideally, work will fit on our precast 5ft x 5ft concrete pads, or be anchored directly to the ground. Works over six feet in height will be given preference. Interested sculptors are encouraged to submit:

A professional resumé and portfolio of three-dimensional works
    An artist statement

Digital photos must be submitted in .jpg format with a minimum 72 dpi and overall dimensions of 1920px x 1920px
A brief statement concerning each work, including medium, dimensions, and weight
All contact information, including telephone numbers, email, mailing address, and website
The materials listed above may be submitted in hard copies or CD’s via post, or via e-mail. Photos and CD’s submitted by post can be returned if they are accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. All photos, including digital files, should be clearly labeled with artist’s name and title of work. All email correspondence must include the submitter’s name and “PSP” in the subject line.

    Selection Process

After juried review of the submitted materials, three finalists and one alternate will be invited to participate. Contracts will be executed with the artists and arrangements made for receiving and installing each sculpture. Delivery and pickup of artwork are the artist’s responsibility. The FAC will provide general liability insurance for the project, and the artist may carry their own property insurance if they deem it necessary. Selected artworks will be displayed from October 2024 to September 2025.

Each artist selected will receive a $2,000 honorarium from the FAC.

If works are sold during the contract period, a 25% commission will be held for future Public Sculpture Project expenses.
