  • Brief Description

The Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department seeks experienced artists or artist teams to design and implement original, thematically related exterior, site-responsive installations for Brush Creek Cultural Heritage Trail.

This commission is open to U.S.-based professional artists who have a proven track record of creating and installing site-responsive, durable, and sustainable public art.

The in-grade art should be made of durable materials that require minimal maintenance to be incorporated into the pavement surface.

The Brush Creek Cultural Heritage Trail will be a series of interconnected nodes that tell the story of the American Civil Rights Movement and the Black experience in Kansas City. The completed project and programming are intended to draw visitors to the Cultural Heritage Corridor for inspiration, reflection, and education. Interpretive materials at the nodes will be designed and installed to facilitate educational programming.

Please see commission portal link for full project information and application instructions.
