Artists and artist teams residing within Greater Cleveland and/or with connections to Rocky River are invited to submit their qualifications to produce a community-inspired mural that will be displayed in RRPL’s southeast stairwell, welcoming patrons to its Children’s Department.
Artists from a wide range of disciplines and artistic talents are encouraged to apply to this RFQ. Previous public art experience is not required!
The goal is to create and implement a vibrant welcoming gateway to the Children’s Department that engages the community and encourages patrons to Discover, Connect, and Engage.
RRPL seeks to implement a mural in the southeast stairwell of the building, located at 1600 Hampton Rd, Rocky River, OH 44116.
ARTIST PROCESS: An advisory committee comprised of community members will select an artist or artist team to create the design for the wall art and implement the artwork.
The top three (3) artists and/or artist teams will be selected from the list of RFQ applicants and paid a stipend of $1,000 to produce proposals for this project.
The selected finalist will receive a contract to implement the project with RRPL.
ELIGIBILITY: This RFQ is open to all artists or teams age 18 and older that live, work, or have connections to Rocky River Public Library.
BUDGET: The budget for this project is $20,000, which is all-inclusive of artist fees, materials, equipment, insurance, assistants, and all other costs. RRPL will work with the selected artist/team to develop and manage the project budget based on the selected design.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS AND DEADLINE: Artists or teams are required to submit a Letter of Interest no longer than one page describing their qualifications and explaining why they are interested in working on this project.
Within the one-page letter of interest, artists should indicate what approach they would take to the project, such as why and how the artist(s) will develop their conceptual vision and how they would address both creating art reflective of the community and engaging the community in the design and implementation phases.
Additionally, artists are required to submit, in electronic format:
Submission materials must meet the requirements and be submitted to [email protected] or dropped off at RRPL by no later than 5:00 PM EST, on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
Questions should be directed to Trent Ross at [email protected] or (440) 895-3727
Thank You!
