The selected artist or artist team will receive a maximum commission of up to and not to exceed $100,000. Short listed artist/team will receive a stipend of $1,000 to develop a final proposal for review. Project budgets must cover all costs associated with the design, creation, and installation of the walkway mural as well as any City of Laguna Beach meetings, public programming, associates with the artwork and all related incidental expenses.
During heavy storms in February 2019, approximately 265 feet of the Laguna Canyon channel wall closest to Laguna Canyon Road collapsed. The Laguna Canyon Channel Replacement Project is work being undertaken by the County of Orange to make repairs and improvements not only to the channel, but to sidewalks and pedestrian bridges. The scope of the project includes aesthetic features with the City funding decorative fencing and an artist created and installed walkway mural
