The Link Rapid Transit Project is located in Rochester, Minnesota. It is a proposed 2.8-mile bus rapid transit (BRT) route along 2nd Street SW. Scheduled to begin service in 2026, it will connect downtown Rochester, Cascade Lake, the Mayo Civic Center, Mayo Clinic campuses, and the Southeast Riverfront Area. It will be the first BRT route in Minnesota outside the Twin Cities.
Through the preliminary design development of Link Rapid Transit and public engagement process, including work conducted by the Community Co-design team, the integration of (functional) art was identified as a high priority for the aesthetics and user experience of future stations.
Art and artist will represent the past, present, and future of the City of Rochester to celebrate the diverse community, cultures, environment, and seasons that make Rochester a unique and special place with emphasis on the districts and neighborhoods which Link will connect. There are seven stations total. Most have two platforms for eastbound and westbound directions. The terminus stations have one platform each.
