Usona Institute is seeking well-qualified artists to create wall artwork in the main entry, on the north and south stair walls, and above the servery at the new headquarters in Fitchburg, WI which will be completed in 2023. This art will serve as a therapeutic and healing tool. The Usona Institute will also serve as an intake center that focuses on alleviating depression through the use of psilocybin and similar medicines in people for whom current medical treatments fall short. The Institute was created shortly after the founder was inspired by the meaningful impact that a psilocybin study at Johns Hopkins University had on a friend suffering from cancer. Usona Institute would like artwork that both complements the building and serves as a unique, memorable piece. While these commissions are grouped together, they do not have to be directly related in style or theme. However, they should speak to the mission and beliefs represented by the facility.
