Livable Buckhead is excited to announce the commencement of our Shelter to Sculpture Program. Livable Buckhead, through a sustainability focused partnership with MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority), is leading an effort to repurpose outdated bus shelters as large-scale, outdoor sculptures. This public art program is for the creation of a public “art walk,” that will serve to spotlight and enhance the surrounding ecology of PATH400, Buckhead’s premier multiuse trail and bolster the community’s arts scene. Materials from the donated bus shelters are in excellent condition and had minimal exposure to the elements, proving to be a great material source for this public sculpture program. Livable Buckhead will limit the applicant pool to artists in the Southeastern United States. Preference will be given to artists who reside in the Atlanta Metropolitan Region, but artists throughout the region are encouraged to apply The application submittals are due May 6th, 2022, at 12 noon. All submittals should be digital. Livable Buckhead will provide a web-portal for digital submissions. Selected artists will be given approximately 6 months to fabricate the sculpture to meet our ribbon-cutting goal in November of 2022. Click here for a link to the application form.
