Overview
Welcoming patients, visitors and medical staff to the Dayton Children’s Hospital is “Momentum”, a colorful, imaginative and joyful sculpture. A young boy and girl play between three vibrantly colored pinwheels, sprouting 14 to 16 feet tall. An energetic golden retriever joins the children playing in between the pinwheels.
Goals
"Momentum" is meant to inspire, uplift, and comfort patients, visitors and medical staff of Dayton Children's Hospital. The vibrant colors of the pinwheels spark the imagination of children, and encourage creativity. Pinwheels are thought to be a symbol of change, hope, happiness and youthfulness.
Process
The three bronze figures are patinaed with a rich and warm golden color, complimenting the colors of the pinwheels. At night, each pinwheel brightly illuminates the medical campus with vivid colors. “Momentum” represents hope, joy and imagination.
