Overview

Creating unique glass is common for Nathan Allan. However, we’ve even impressed ourselves with our latest creation, Iceberg Glass. This multi complex glass can be used in a variety of applications. For example, as shown here in this gorgeous private residence, our Iceberg Architectural Glass was used in 5 different applications in the home. From accent panels to feature panels, or as stunning glass shelves, our 1.5” thick Iceberg Glass shows how “cool” architectural glass by Nathan Allan really is.

Goals

Throughout this gorgeous private residence, our Iceberg Glass is featured. A prominent Iceberg Architectural Glass Partition creatively divides the house, and provides a unique framework for the exclusive art. At the same time, other Iceberg panels stand alone, becoming their own art pieces. Accordingly,12 exquisite shelves, installed within a Stainless Steel wall unit, are recessed and free floating. LED lighting creates a beautiful glow in the glass, highlighting the various size air bubbles which float within the glass. Likewise, in the master bedroom, mirrors are framed and lighted with additional Iceberg panels. Also, a beautiful front door sidelight stands artistically, radiating in the natural light.

Process

Iceberg Architectural Glass is a very complex glass. 8 separate and exclusive production techniques are required to produce Iceberg Glass. After the glass is melted within our industrial kilns, post production begins. During this step, our Iceberg Glass is formed down to its finished and proper size. At the same time, the edges of the glass are ground and polished to create a beautiful finished glass design.

However, before production started, Nathan Allan artists met with the talented designer Garret Werner of Garret Cord Werner Architects & Interior Designers. Accordingly, design ideas were discussed, patterns were drawn out, and custom samples were produced. Consequently, after some back and forth, a prototype design sample was approved, and full production initiated.

Additional Information

Panels sizes for the Architectural Glass Partition are as large as 33” x 116”. For the stand alone Art Divider panel, 24” x 108”. The largest glass shelve measures 36” x 16”. Each Iceberg Glass panel is 1.5” thick, and produced in Crystal Clear glass. Moreover, in multiple panel applications, for example the feature wall, the pattern flows from panel to panel. This is created by designing exclusive molds for each panel of glass.
