Fault Whisper, 2015
Medium: Mixed Media - Electronics
Site: Fault Line Park, downtown San Diego CA
Dimensions: 21' x 63' x 100'
Commissioned by: The City of San Diego Office of Arts and Culture
Description: Artwork with two sculptural elements that allows the public to experience the
shallow fault rupture beneath their feet at the park, land displacement between the two elements
over time, and the ground movement in music.
The integration lies in the fact of our desire to make tangible the hidden dynamics of this shallow fault rupture. And it necessitated that all sculptural and electronic elements to be exactly as where they in relationships with the fault rupture itself. Therefore could be considered place making as much much as the place makes the art.
The artist revealed the unique dynamics of the place, while the landscape architect further highlight the fault line by placing the play and leisure structural elements of the park accordingly. .
Rather than resorting to the usual commemoration of a selective segment of history and people of a place as originally willed by the various neighborhood groups, my team has provide tangible means for all communities with a first hand experience with mother earth here, so that they will in time create a shared living cultural experience unique of this very place.

[ manifesto ]
Art matters. Attention to the details of our environment leads to love of place, which brings us to take responsibility for the spaces where we live and work. And by extension, the people with whom we live and work. And by extension, to our local communities, our cities, our nations, and our world.
We champion the role of artists in our society. We need artists to provide us with inspiration, creativity, and imagination, and to help us envision a better world.
Architects and designers know that remarkable design can change everything. They connect the dots across disciplines, collaborating with artists to make the world a more beautiful place. They are the ultimate patrons of the arts.
In the process, design professionals promote imagination and creativity, and through their commissions, make original art integral to and accessible in people's lives.
Art in our public and private spaces helps us fight ordinary buildings, ordinary streets, ordinary cities. We celebrate the extraordinary.
The architecture of our buildings and the design of our interiors affect our happiness and well-being. Each of us deserves a daily dose of inspiration.
