Overview

This installation covers a 20'wide x 10'high wall, and was chosen as the center piece for the space. I love the way the interior designer for this project thinks, and have learned much from her. "Choose the art first; then the furnishings!" What an honor.

Goals

The owner, whose private home I had installed, called me directly with the project. She had a pretty good idea of what she wanted and it was completely different from our first installation. She joined me in the studio, and we sat down together, assembled the concept and two hours later had the plan. And part of the plan was the fresh flexibility of spare pieces. That is, I flew out for the installation with spare paintings and spare Quiet Oboes. This placed the owners and the interior designers in the position of being kids in a candy store of options. What I didn't realize until we installed the art was that the interior was integrated with the art rather than the other way around. What an honor!

Process

After sitting down with the owner for the initial layout, our plan was to have spare elements on hand for the purpose of tweaking color on site and/or adding or adjusting the overall installation size and proportions. The interior designers were part of the process in the field and it was a wonderful process. I learned a great deal from the consumate pros. Choose the art first, then the furnishings. Brilliant!

Additional Information

It's a good thing we had the spares around. Although the layout was wonderful on paper, the overall piece asked for some more color, a little expansion, an extra here and there and it made all the difference in the world. We give the wall what it wants.
