Overview
“Fata Morgana” is created using a painstaking handmade process in which the artist, using paper, ink jet printing and glitter, methodically folds, cuts and glues the paper to create this cityscape. The paper pieces are mounted onto a lightweight metal bar bases and suspended from the ceiling using clear filament.
Goals
This work of art can really be suspended from any space. The piece should be hung in such a way that the viewer can admire the piece from above. When installed at McClain Gallery, the piece was hung at about 38 - 40 inches off the ground and lit from above.
Process
This artwork was created by Katsumi Hayakawa who works with the exhibiting gallery to properly install and display the artwork based on his specifications.
