Overview

Located in Changsha, China. Leaves is a community club. Thoughtful, curated art programming enhances the overall residential experience and extends throughout the entirety of the building. Two key pieces in the building lobby define the setting from the initial entry: A series of leaf-shaped art lights creates a distinct sense of arrival and community presence.

Goals

The project designed in alignment with piedmont geological characteristics of the city is full of natural landscapes that feature leaves of mountain forests, seeking to show aesthetics of life. Fully respecting Changsha’s native landforms and what the city has to offer culturally, the design seeks to integrate local massifs and structures, which are a source of inspiration for this project, into indoor spaces. Beyond that, the rolling ceiling of the former building is retained as a means to mirror what a wavy mountain is like. Introduce a unique residential experience tailored to the surrounding neighborhood.A series of leaf-shaped art lights above the reception desk offers a memorable first impression of the space to residents. Creating a unique and dynamic space that reflects the distinct style of the up-and-coming neighborhood while offering an impactful contribution to the community aesthetic.
